How Simply Scripture Began
I Didn’t Start Out Knowing Any of This
I grew up sitting in a church pew every week, caught between sheer boredom and fragile hope that God might let me into heaven. Armed with basic Bible facts and a smidgeon of life application, I approached my Bible like a genie in a bottle. If my good could outweigh my bad, maybe God could make my life work out better than average, right?
Not so much.
I was desperate for a grace I could never earn and a love that didn’t keep score.
God met me at my kitchen sink with the stark reality of my utter depravity and my desperate need for a Savior. I was utterly lost and truly found at the same moment.
No longer was the Bible a dry book of rules from a distant God. It became a love letter from my Heavenly Father that ignited my soul with the redemptive power of Christ.
In 2015, Simply Scripture was born out of the Lord’s calling on my life to help other women experience that same transformation.

Sheryl has written numerous blogposts, newsletters, and devotionals for a wide variety of women’s ministry niches, and welcomes more opportunities which align with her statement of faith.

Family Life
I am madly in love with my high school sweetheart and incredible farmer of thirty-plus years. My mama heart walks outside my body in the form of 3 grown kids, their loves, and a whole passel of adorable littles that call me Grandma.
Life on the Farm
We are rooted on our Midwest Ohio, fourth generation family farm where we raise cattle, corn, soybeans, and wheat. Psst…when I’m not behind a keyboard or on a tractor, I raise retriever puppies for family pets and therapy programs.
Fun Facts
I enjoy great conversations around lazy campfires, sticky s’mores, and spending time with family and friends. Sunrises and sunsets are my reset, and I love taking pics of them on my daily walks. Did I mention I like everything on a dessert menu and overly buttered popcorn?
